Evaluate the causes of stroke. Discuss the differences between transient ischemic attack and cerebrovascular accidents (CVA). Discuss the types, warning signals, and treatment of CVA. What causes migraine headache? Discuss its signs, precipitating factors, and treatment. Discuss the role of analgesic drugs. Why is it important to determine whether a patient is suffering from viral or bacterial meningitis? Explain the cause, pathophysiology, manifestations, laboratory investigations, and treatment of bacterial meningitis. Read and evaluate the pathophysiology associated with Alzheimer's disease. Describe the changes in the brain as Alzheimer's disease develops along with the effects on body functions. What are the possible treatments of the disease?

Strengths of biological causes

Biological causal factors of anorexia nervosa include genetic predisposition, serotonin regulation, and physiologic weight set points. Given the prevalence of this disorder, it seems unlikely that biological causes alone could account for it.Research eating disorders using online resources.

Comment on the relative strengths of biological causes compared to sociological or individual causes. Consider the types of anorexia nervosa in your argument. Explain any treatment strategies that would support your argument. Does obesity share anything in common with anorexia nervosa? Consider obesity causal factors and whether obesity is truly a mental disorder.

Contemporary Environmental Issues

You are required to critically analyze one of the following five (5) environmental issues that have been addressed in Contemporary Environmental Issues and the associated course material to demonstrate your comprehension of the fundamental characteristics associated with the concept of a sustainable world. The Final Paper should incorporate student research, assigned readings, class discussions, and personal experience.   Environmental Issues
Choice One – Are alternative energy sources the answer to ending human dependence on oil? Choice Two –Is global warming due to human actions?  Can the human race take action to stop global warming? Choice Three – Is genetic engineering the answer to ending global hunger? Choice Four – Should cars be more efficient? Choice Five – Is wind power green?
Based on material obtained in class as well as outside material, you must:
Present both sides of the argument. You may address one side at a time or point-by-point. It is important to maintain an unbiased approach and to fully discuss both sides of the issue. In other words, the answers “yes” and “no” should be thoroughly explored for the question/issue you select.   Discuss the impact of this environmental issue on a sustainable world, and provide a critical analysis of the current issue.
The paper must be eight to ten pages in length and formatted according to APA style. You must use at least four scholarly resources (at least one of which can be found in the Ashford Online Library) in addition to the textbook to support your claims and subclaims. The recommended readings listed for Week Five contain articles associated with each of the five choices. Cite your resources in text and on the reference page. For information regarding APA samples and tutorials, visit the Ashford Writing Center, within the Learning Resources tab on the left navigation toolbar. Writing the Final Paper The Final Paper:

Human Adaptive Evolution

The human appendix, a vestigal extension off the large intestine, is homologous to a structure called a caecum, generally larger than our appendix, and houses bacteria that aid in digesting cellulose, the main component of plants.

Explain how the presence of the appendix might be used to show our common ancestry with other mammals, and determine what it might tell us about the dietary history of humans. Provide an example with your response.
Geneticists compare DNA base sequences among organisms and from this data determine a gene’s rate of evolution. Different genes have been found to evolve at different rates.

Explain why some genes might have faster rates of evolution than other genes as populations adapt to their environments, and give an example with your explanation.
